WTF
First of all to Mr. Obermann on MSNBC. Calling Bill O'Reilly a moron is an insult to the intelligence of morons everywhere! But you go sir!! It is really fun to watch. Also don’t forget to add a leap second to the end of this year. That’s correct folks Newton and all of his science, or was it Caesar and his infinite ego, what with the invention of monthly calendars and all. Of course with Caesar it had to be some subordinate that helped with the calendar of things, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries, millennia, lives, times, eons and epochs. Have you ever wondered why, when and who decided about the leap year? Well you are not alone. Anyway, getting back to the leap second. All of the celestial bodies that circle our star or sun are affected by the forces of gravity. The earth's rotation, and some say even the earth's orbit are affected (mostly slowed) by the oceans tides. Ocean tides slow the earth's rotation a.k.a. day ever so slightly. Every so often, (depending on the tides) certain scientists known as the "International Committee for Weights and Measures" have meetings to determine when the slowing of the earth's rotation should be adjusted to concur with the atomic clocks that are precise but are able to be changed by men. Man it is argued of course can change the earth's rotation. Anyway these scientist decide to adjust time by either adding or subtracting seconds. It is important to note that it a leap second can go either way. However all of the leap seconds to date have been added rather than subtracted. I do not know why this is important, do you know why? You can find further information for the particular sciences involved with these phenomenon by surfing the web. Just be sure to set your clocks, (including that pesky VCR) clock by adding this crucial increment of one second of time. Wow more time to do what you want or to do what you do do, so to speak. It would be a great time to end the Iraq war. I don’t even think that Ghengis W. Bush used that much time in researching the need to invade and occupy Iraq. Or torture prisoners in other countries or illegally spy on citizens, among other illegal activity. He just wanted revenge on Iraq's former leader and his cronies. It is interesting to note however that "time" is referred to somewhat universally as "civil". Unlike the current United States administration. UTC is the abbreviation for Coordinated Universal Time. I think the abbreviation should be "CUT", but it often matters not what I think. It should, in my mind anyway matter often. What I think that is. For additional information on all this time stuff please visit: http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/leapsec.html or http://www.ecben.net/calendar.shtml. I do not know how accurate these sites are I just know that there is a lot of information available there. Here is another useful site: Oh forget it. This post has nothing to do with much of anything (as if any of them do).
